 YAMALTOUR offers wonderful leisure in the open air close to very beautiful lake located in the forest tundra, surrounded by woods on one side and bushes, Arctic birches on another side. Not far off lake there is national chum (reindeer skin tent) where you can try local dishes (slices of frozen fish, venison broth, cowberries, fen-berry…). As well you can try yourself in national sports: throwing tynzyan (loop for reindeer catching) on khorey (drover’s pole), jump over sledge, ax throwing. Survey excursion in Salekhard. You will visit: Obdorsk old prison (Obdorsk is previous name of Salekhard). Today it is an open air monument – remake of XV century called «Town of masters»; the Peter and Paul temple – reconstructed temple of the end of XIX century. Stelas: «To romantic people of the 70s» dedicated to developing of oil and gas fields in Yamal; «The 66th parallel» a geographic feature of town as only town in the world located at the Polar circle. Memorial dedicated to participants of the Stalin railway «№ 501» construction.
Transfer to Gornoknyazevsk. The village is located on the Ob high bank at a distance of 16 km from Salekhard. In XIX century residence of the Taishin ostyak dukes was placed in Gornoknyazevsk village. Emperor of the Russian empire had granted a charter to Taishin dukes to rule the northern people. Today Gornoknyazevsk has natural and ethnographic complex where the Taishin dukes descendants will narrate you about famous days of history of the northern people, introduce you to traditional ceremonies and culture of Khanty (ostyak) people. Also you will be offered to taste a lunch of national dishes in real chum (tent).
Visit to the Ivan Shemanovsky museum and exhibition complex where presented are ethnographic, archaeological, paleontology and other expositions narrating about Yamal history, culture and traditional way of life of native minorities of the High North.

Transfer to Laborovaya factory. Arrival to the camp of nomad reindeer herders (the Nenets). Accommodation in chum. Meeting people of nomad camp.

Days 4 – 6.
|

Group stays in the camp of nomad reindeer breeders. During stay tourists will be eye-witnesses and active participants of kaslaniye (move of nomad camp) to the new places of reindeer pastures (kaslaniye distance is 10 – 15 km). Here you will have an opportunity to touch surprising untouched world of the Russian northern people, get acquaint with their traditions, beliefs and customs and get dressed in traditional clothes. You will learn how to harness team of reindeer and will participate in competitions of reindeer teams’ races on the tundra endless spaces and try to curry reindeer skins and braid threads of reindeer sinews. Also tourist will visit sacred places of the Nenets people, if wish they become eye-witnesses of the reindeer rite butchering. They will go to the most northern forest of Yamal peninsula and participate in traditional winter fishing.
